Your hosts or alpinists from the mountaineering school would be happy to accompany you on your walks...

  • Schildhöfeweg: The Passeier Valley’s new Schildhöfeweg is a walking path that takes you past “Schildhöfe” (places where you can stop for refreshments), through meadows and forests, to idyllic rest stops and back to Saltaus along the Passer river. The path is easy and suitable for everyone. Walking time: approx. 2 hours
  • Andreas Hofer round walk: On the trail of freedom fighter Andreas Hofer!
  • Walking paths through the Texel Group National Park: At 33,430 ha, the Texel Group National Park is the largest of the seven national parks in South Tyrol. And many regard it as the most beautiful...anyone walking through the national park will encounter everything from coppices of Mediterranean downy oak trees to fragrant alpine meadows, uncultivated grassland and areas of ice.
  • Hirzer...the Hirzer cable car enables you to travel from Saltaus to a height of almost 2,000 m in a flash! At Klammeben, the mountain station, the Hirzer Hochplateau stretches out before you with countless options for hiking from alm to alm, as does the Merano basin with its tributary valleys.
  • European long-distance footpath E5: The E5 (Lake Constance – Bolzano – Venice) runs through the Passeier Valley to Bolzano and on to Venice or, in the other direction, via the Timmelsjoch to Lake Constance.
  • Riffianer Waalweg: The “Waalwege” (“water channel paths”) were originally built to irrigate meadows and fields. Even today, water babbles in the water channels, and the paths running alongside bring joy to young and old.
  • Guided farm walk: In the morning, we’ll climb up to the mountain farms and stop off there. We’ll visit cow sheds and barns and taste some typical dishesprepared by the farmer’s wives themselves while seated in a cozy farmhouse. In the afternoon, we’ll head back down to the valley. We’ll be accompanied by farmer’s wives from the valley who will tell us about the varied lives of farming families in years gone by and in the present and about interesting farming methods and working the fields.

Well-maintained walking paths make long walks tempting. You’ll find your energy and zest for life restored, and will be able to relax and unwind. The surrounding mountains with their splendid summits make every high-level walk an unforgettable experience. Join us at the Familienalm and enjoy a genuine Tyrolean “Marende” (hearty snack) among friends.
